Buster Posey - Ruler of all he sees |
To sum it up he has been done right Clarkian.
As a child of the 80's Will Clark has always been my favorite Giants hitter. Sure I liked , but he didn't capture your attention the same way. Same with guys like , he was good but he was never our guy, the guy who came up through the system, the guy you pretended to be when you playing with your friends. The guy who came closest for me (I am not sure about other Giants fans) was ; he had the local connection, the family history, the Willie Mays godfather factor but something wasn't quite perfect with the connection with the fans.
It is still early but I am getting the feeling that has the intangibles to make that same connection that Clark had. If his rookie campaign is any indication it looks like he could very well be a special player for the men in orange and black for a long time.
Here are his numbers for July:
G | PA | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | SO | BA | OBP | SLG | OPS | RE24 | |||
18 | 78 | 69 | 17 | 30 | 3 | 1 | 7 | 20 | 6 | 9 | .435 | .474 | .812 | 1.286 | 14.85 |
In addition to this he has been remarkably consistent this whole month. He has one game where he failed to get a hit but was still on base twice with 2 walks and a run scored. He is in the middle of a 19 game on base streak and a 15 day hitting streak.
His legend grows everyday it seems. The only thing that is missing is a great nick name to call the kid.
If your on Twitter you should definitely follow the . If you're not you should really consider joining, lots of good stuff going on there.
Before yesterday Posey had contributed in 37 out of the 99 total runs scored this month... Yah..
